Eva stared at the disheveled goddess in front of her and couldn't hold it in anymore.

She screeched, "What in the world is going on here?"

Athena, covered in dirt with her hair sticking up in every direction except the one it was supposed to, looked terrible. She had dirt smudges across her face, and her eyes were red as though she'd been crying. Her clothes were wrinkled, which was completely unlike her. Even the way she was holding herself was the exact opposite of what Eva had come to expect from the goddess.

When neither Dionysus or Athena answered her, Eva started to pace. There was just too much going on. Everywhere she turned, the gods were getting in the way of things, making a hash of whatever they were attempting to do.

"That's it," she snapped at the two other people in the bar. "Both of you sit down. Someone is going to tell me what is happening here, and whoever it is might not get slapped upside the head."

Neither god moved, and Eva was sick of it.

She bared her teeth, refusing to let them off the hook. "Now." She pointed to the nearest table. "Sit."

Like obedient children, Dion and Athena sat dutifully at the table and stared at their hands.

"I didn't even do anything," Dion mumbled under his breath. "Why am I being punished?"

Eva didn't answer him, instead choosing to sit down and glare at them both from across the table.

"Athena," she said after it was clear that neither god was going to meet her gaze. "Look at me."

When Athena met her gaze, Eva narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

"What's happening, Athena? This isn't like you. You're intelligent, cunning, and there's no chance that you'd ever act this way around me. What happened?"

Athena finally spoke, coughing delicately before doing so. "No one knows what to do, Evangeline. Zeus can demand answers all he wants, but that doesn't mean we know what to do." She sighed and leaned down so that her forehead tapped the table like Hades had earlier. "I didn't know what else to do. So I sent one of my books out, to try and gain the knowledge of where the children are. But they're old, and the power in them is completely unreliable."

Eva eyed the glowing orange book, which was still suspended in midair on the dance floor. "So it's magic." She wasn't asking, and she really couldn't believe that she'd even said the words. "That doesn't explain what it's doing here, or why you look like someone ran you over with a tornado."

Dion, relieved that he wasn't the one in the limelight, took advantage of Eva's momentary distraction to grab three glasses and a bottle of what appeared to be nectar from behind the bar. Eva watched as he sat down and poured them each a glass, while he raised an eyebrow at her.

"What?" He took a long drink. "If Athena's gonna face an inquisition, we might as well give her something to drink."

"I look like this." Athena motioned to her whole body.
